CARACAS, Venezuela.- The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, said the Bolivarian government vindicates the struggles waged by the women of the Great Homeland, in order to commemorate the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.

Through Twitter social network, the head of State exalted the figure of the Aymara people´s warrior, Bartolina Sisa, who fought against discrimination and abuses committed by the Spanish oppressors in Alto Peru.

Born in 1754, she was married to warlord Tupac Katari with whom he organized the indigenous resistance of the Andean peoples against Spanish colonialism in Cuzco, Peru.

The Aymara Warrior, considered one of the bravest women of the time, died quartered by the realistic forces during the anti-colonial rebellion in Upper Peru.
