Unions in France call for general strike day.

PARIS, France. – The General Confederation of Workers, France’s main trade union, announced together with three other trade union organizations the call for a general strike day against the pension reform project.

The Workers’ Force, Solidarity, the United Trade Union Federation and the trade unions of the transport company of Paris region will participate in the mobilization, fixed for next December 5.

According to the statement, the conveners are committed to building an action plan against the pension reform project and to achieve an improvement in the current system of solidarity and intergenerational pensions.

The draft reform of the pension system announced by the French government has been rejected by dozens of professional groups; although so far, the protests had taken place in isolation.
