Refugees in the Mediterranean.

GENEVA, Switzerland.- The International Organization for Migration reported this Tuesday that more than 100 thousand refugees arrived this year by the Mediterranean to Europe, less than half compared to last year.

The main ports of arrival of immigrants are again Italian, as in 2016 and more than eighty-five thousand immigrants have entered by the Italian coasts in the first semester of 2017.

Greece is the second country with a great immigrant entrance; so far, the number of arrivals is less than that of 2016, when thousands of displaced people entered the coasts of the Greek islands.

The number of deaths recorded during the journey through the Mediterranean, in most cases from Libya, has surpassed the two thousand victims.
