Red Alert in Italy

ROMA, Italy.- The Civil Protection of Italy issued a red warning for rain risks in several areas of the island of Sardinia, where in the last 48 hours it fell a quantity of water similar to that of one year.

The main diagnostic center of the country explained that the adverse conditions on that island and other areas of the peninsula are due to a vortex of low pressure affecting the country since May 1st and it will last several days, characterized by heavy rains and storms.

The most affected areas by rainfall will be the extreme northwest, Emilia Romagna, the central region of the Adriatic, Lazio, Campania, Calabria and the main islands, Sicily, Sardinia, and Capri, among others.

The Italian Civil Protection also decreed orange alert of moderate risk to critical in the hydraulics on the zone of Abruzzo, which includes Tordino Vomano, Marsi, and Baja Del Sangro basins.
