Havana, Cuba.-Puerto Rican independence leader Oscar López Rivera thanked Cuba and his people for all the support given to the campaign for their freedom, definitively achieved today.

Through a telephone call to the Hero of the Republic of Cuba and president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González, López Rivera confirmed that he will visit the island in November to meet with the authorities and the people and give back All the support offered to his cause.

During the conversation, held in the headquarters of ICAP in the presence of hundreds of activists for the independence of Puerto Rico, González transferred to his interlocutor the joy felt upon hearing him again, as both were cell partners in the United States.

The Cuban hero remembered the years together in prison as the best of his confinement, if it is possible, that in some way the years of deprivation of liberty are good, especially when a sentence is served to defend a just cause.

González congratulated the Puerto Rican people and assured that there are many in the world who rejoice with the definitive freedom of Oscar López Rivera.

He also expressed confidence that the Puerto Rican man will continue to contribute to the struggle for decolonization and the independence of his land.
