LIMA, Peru.-The President of Peru, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, resigned after a session of the Council of Ministers to put an end to a management of just one year and seven months, national media reported.

Kuczynski, whose removal was imminent, plans to give a message to the nation in the next few minutes to reportedly confirm its decision.

After a political crisis and in the midst of revelations of videos, the Peruvian President resigned his position, according to close sources. Gestion newspaper adds that a letter with his resignation will be sent to the Congress to be accepted this Thursday.

According to Sputnik web site, Kuczynski was to face that day a request for dismissal in the Congress, for his alleged involvement in bribes of Brazilian business emporium Odebrecht.
