DAMASCUS, Syria. – At least sixty-five members of the Islamic State (ISIS) were killed because of Iranian missile attacks in the Syrian town of Deir ez Zor.

Among the dead jihadists, there are six known commanders of the organization in that region. According to information previously known, Tehran launched projectiles from the Kermanshah Air base to a command post and a logistical center.

Iranian ambassador in Russia Mehdi Sana said this Tuesday that these military actions can be considered a response to the terrorist acts carried out in Tehran in reference to the double attack in the Iranian Parliament and the mausoleum to Ayatollah Khomeini.

In his view, the result showed Iran’s military strength and capacity, and on the other hand, the diplomat reiterated Tehran’s commitment to counter-terrorism and the settlement of the conflict in Syria.
