European Union. – MEPs took a step further in the rapprochement between the regional bloc and Cuba, when approved with 57 votes in favor the bilateral cooperation agreement between the European Union (EU) and the Caribbean country.
Parliamentary Elena Valenciano, who exposed the agreement before the Committee on Foreign Affairs., said now that Trump wants to isolate the island, it is necessary for EU to seize this opportunity to be closer.
Thus, MEPs approved the European Union-Cuba political dialogue and cooperation agreement, which hopes to drive forward bilateral trade, political dialogue and economic cooperation.
For its provisional entry into force, pending a long process of ratification by the parliaments of the member countries, the plenary of the Parliament must first ratify it; the vote will be in July in Strasbourg, France.
