Group of 77 plus China.

NEW YORK, United States of America. – Ecuadorian Chancellor Maria Fernanda Espinosa delivered today in the United Nations the Presidency of the Group of 77 plus China to Egypt, in a ceremony headed also by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.

Before traveling to the UN headquarters in New York, Espinosa highlighted the work of her country as head of the group on issues such as the fight against climate change and tax evasion.

The Ecuadorian Chancellor pointed out that during its term in office, Ecuador emphasized the need of a global pact on migration and a new human rights treaty.

The Andean nation exercised the pro-tempore presidency of the Group of 77 plus China last year, having been unanimously appointed in September 2016 during the 71 ° session of the United Nations General Assembly.
