The United Nations Security Council is conducting an open debate on youth, peace and security, just at a time when the multilateral organization focuses on enhancing the participation of the new generations.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said it is necessary to find a new and inclusive approach to involve young people more.

For the top representative of the world body, this population segment is fundamental in the effort to build, maintain peace, and create a safer world.

Guterres considered the new generations a priority for the United Nations, and called for the multilateral organization to be more relevant to them. He also emphasized the need to allow them to express themselves, listening to them, and empowering them to achieve their goals of a better life and future.
