Havana, cuba.- Cuba and the European Union (EU) discussed the future perspectives of collaboration this week, in the context of the visit to the island by the Director General of International Cooperation and Development of the European Commission, Stefano Manservisi.

The Italian official led the delegation of the bloc to the first edition of the Subcommittee on Cuba-EU Cooperation and fulfilled a broad agenda in this capital.

Manservisi spoke Monday with the vice president of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas, meeting in which they recognized the progress made during the last year in the implementation of the Multiannual Indicative Program for the period 2014-2020.

This initiative brings to the Caribbean island non-reimbursable funds worth 50 million euros for the energy and agriculture sectors, as well as the exchange of experts.

The general director also spoke with Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra and Foreign Trade and Investment Vice President Ileana Núñez, with whom he discussed an assistance project in the central region of the Greater Antillean Island, which includes food production.

Manservisi’s visit ratified the interest of the parties in continue deepening the work in areas related to the socio-economic development of Cuba, within the framework of the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement signed in December 2016.
