Blockade.

WASHINGTON, the United States.- The International Committee on Peace, Justice and Dignity for the People advances in the preparations for the fourth Conference against the American Blockade on Cuba, to be held in Washington from September 24 to 28.

The events of this year will be focused on the impacts of the economic, commercial and financial siege of more than 55 years on the education sector in the Caribbean country.

Alicia Jrapko, Coordinator of the organizing institution in the United States, explained that from this approach, they will try to reach groups and institutions that work in that country on the education subject.

A message they bring as part of the coming event is that education is a national priority in Cuba, whereas in the USA it is under attack.

An Island Full of Hope

Among the activities planned for the event against the US blockade to Cuba there is the projection of two documentaries at the cinema Landmark E Street, in Washington: Fight Yes!, on the battle for public education in Puerto Rico, and Teacher, about the literacy campaign carried out in Cuba.

The Coordinator of the International Committee on Peace, Justice and Dignity for the People, Alicia Jrapko, also reported that the exhibition of both films will be attended by its creators, as well as with the participation of the Cuban social psychologist Norma Guillard.

Another of the scheduled activities will be a meeting with students from Howard University, Washington DC, in which they will make a presentation on how the blockade affects education in Cuba.

For that and other events American graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba will be also present.
