Havana, Cuba.- The potentialities of the Relax Viewer, a neuromuscular relaxation monitor designed in Cuba, was exhibited today in the scientific sessions of the 11th Congress of Anesthesiology in this capital.

Dr. Idoris Cordero, president of the Scientific Committee of the event, told exclusively Prensa Latina that the device is another method for specialists to ensure the safety of the patient.

However, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) does not describe that monitor as one of the important standards of patient safety, the specialist said.

The Cuban expert stated that the equipment is an important part of the operative process because, when the muscular relaxation is prolonged and goes beyond the operating room, the person can have complications.

About ‘Cubanestesia 2017’, as the Congress was also called, Cordero praised that her program focuses the main challenges and problems of recent years in Anesthesiology, such as the treatment of elderly patients, in critical condition or with associated diseases such as heart disease, hypertension or diabetes.

The Congress of Anesthesiology, to be concluded tomorrow, in addition to the scientific sessions, hosts an exhibition fair where companies from several countries are showing their products.
