nefrologiaHavana, Cuba.- Cuba”s Nephrology Institute (INEF) is celebrating from today to Saturday, March 18th, its 50th anniversary, with workshops and refresher courses for professionals of this medical specialty.

As part of the activities, the ‘La Pradera’ International Health Center, in this capital, will host the 18th National Course of Pediatric Nephrology, and the Day for refresher course in Nephrology Nursing.

The INEF, which organizes this event along with the Cuban Society of Nephrology, will also celebrate the 47th anniversary of the first successful kidney transplant performed on the Caribbean island.

Teachers from the United States, Puerto Rico, Argentina and Spain will arrive in Havana; who together with national specialists will give keynote speeches on kidney transplant, chronic kidney disease and clinical nephrology.

These activities will be sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health and its Council of Scientific Societies, the Latin American Society and the International Pediatric Nephrology Association, as well as the Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension.

The Fresenius Medical Care Institution (Germany), the Roche Institution (Switzerland), the Center for Molecular Immunology (Cuba) and Petroleos de Venezuela, among others, will also participate.
