Havana, Cuba.- The Minister of Public Health Jose Angel Portal will share experiences with colleagues on the control of Covid-19 in Cuba this Monday at the 73rd World Assembly of that discipline, which will be held for the first time online.

The current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic has led to Ministers of Health members of the Assembly to discuss this issue by online videoconference, far from the traditional meeting held every May at the headquarters of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

The global confrontation with COVID-19 is the main theme of this year’s meeting, which will also present a declaration of support for the control of the pandemic.

Cuba’s participation, led by the Minister of Health, will take place at 10:30 local time and will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel and the Facebook page of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap).

For Cuban health authorities, the fight against Covid-19 requires solidarity and international cooperation, since no country can face this pandemic alone.

In addition to confirming that Cuba is willing to share its experiences in the fight against this disease, he reiterates to the WHO that he can continue to count on the support of this country in this work.

Prior to the appearance of the first infected persons on 11 March, Cuba had implemented a government strategy that covered various sectors of society and knowledge, especially the exact and biological sciences.
