HAVANA, Cuba.- The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, paid tribute to Kwame Nkrumah, father of the independence of that nation with a floral offering in the Park of the African Heroes.

Taking the floor, the Ghanaian President expressed that his people 2019 as The Year of Return, because of the commemoration of the 400 anniversary of the slave trade. He added that this horrible process, in which thousands of black Africans were brought, it will  never come back.

The head of State of Ghana emphasized that his country was the first in the Sub Sahara region to free itself from the colonial yoke, and advocated that all the countries of that continent be grouped in pan-Africanism.

Fernando Gonzalez, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, said that Fidel inaugurated the Park of the Heros, and highlighted the solidarity ties of friendship between Cuba and Ghana
