HAVANA, Cuba. – The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, thanked his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro for the message of congratulation sent on the occasion of the constitutional referendum held on the island last Sunday.

Diaz-Canel also recognized the resistance of the Venezuelan people to external aggressions to promote a change of regime in the South American nation and demoralize the Bolivarian Revolution.

The new Magna Carta includes changes in the structure of the State, as the creation of the positions of President and Vice President of the Republic and of the Prime Minister, replacing that of the President of the Councils of State and Ministers.

After being approved in the National Assembly of the People´s Power and ratified on February 24, the document will enter into force, once proclaimed, from its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic.
