HAVANA, Cuba.- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel highlighted on his Twitter account the results of the Cuban boxing squad at the Pan American Games in Lima, where they reached eight gold medals.
Excellent performance of Cuban boxing in Lima. Congratulations to our team and the technical staff. #SomosCuba #SomosContinuidad, the President wrote shortly after the final boxing match ended, where Cuba imposed its superiority on the continent.
With a performance rated excellently, Cuba’s boxing squad won in the Lima Games 8 gold medals, one silver and one bronze. Together with shooting, boxers contribute today with the most titles for the island.
They were winners in the last match Arlen Lopez (75 kg), Andy Cruz (64 kg), Osvel Caballero (56 kg) and Erislandy Savon (91 kg), while in the first gold disputes, on Thursday, Lazaro Alvarez (60 kg), Roniel Iglesias (69 kg), Julio Cesar la Cruz (81 kg) and Dainier Pero (over 91 kg) won.
The only Cubans who did not reach the title in Lima 2019 were Yosbany Veitia (52 kg), who got a silver medal, and Damian Arce (49 kg), with a bronze one.
