Singapore, Singapore.- Cuban company Acosta Danza began this Tuesday a tour around Asia, with which it will arrive in October to Chinese stages to perform for the first time in Singapore, under the general direction of Carlos Acosta.

According to a press release, the first stop will be the Da:ns Festival 2019 in the city-state, the smallest nation in Southeast Asia, where the company will perform a varied program.

For its performances on October 10 and 11, in the Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay, Acosta Danza will present the pieces ‘Alrededor no hay nada,’ by Goyo Montero, based on poems by Joaquin Sabina and Vinicius de Moraes; as well as ‘Fauno’ and ‘Mermaid,’ by Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

According to the official press release, in China, the National Theater will host performances on the 15th and 16th of this month, with the piece ‘Imponderable,’ by Montero, based on the lyrical work of Silvio Rodriguez, and the solo ‘Impronta,’ by Maria Rovira.

Acosta Danza will also stage Christopher Bruce’s ‘Rooster,’ based on the music of the Rolling Stones, and ‘Twelve,’ a divertimento by Spaniard Jorge Crecis which mixes dance, sport and mathematics.

Founded by dancer and choreographer Carlos Acosta, this Cuban company stands out for offering performances including the most advanced contemporary techniques worldwide, both in terms of movement and everything related to the stage.
