Los Angeles, U.S.- The funeral of American singer Aretha Franklin, known worldwide as the queen of soul, will be on August 31, in Detroit, confirmed her spokeswoman and representative, Gwendolyn Quinn.

The vocalist also nicknamed Lady Soul and recognized as one of the most influential artists in contemporary music, died on August 16, in her 76 years old, after a tough battle against cancer.

According to the representative, the funeral will take place in the Greater Grace Temple, in Detroit, the city in which the artist grew up, but it will be limited to the family and her closest friends.

However, Franklin’s body will be exhibited at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Detroit, on August 28 and 29, for all fans who want to say goodbye to her.

Many artists pay homage to these iconic figures of world music who used her voice in favor of racial rights in the United States and women’s liberation.

The last performances of the exceptional singer took place in 2017: a concert in Philadelphia, in August, and two months later it was presented in New York for the foundation of the British musician Elton John who fights against AIDS.

Franklin developed an extensive musical career in which she accumulated a score of albums, 18 Grammy awards and 75 million albums sold.
