Havana, Cuba.-The United Nations (UN) independent expert on human rights and international solidarity, Virginia Dandan, will visit Cuba in response to an invitation by the Cuban Government, the foreign ministry in this country reported today.

She will stay in Cuba from July 12-13 and during the visit, Dandan will fulfill a program that includes meetings and other activities.

According to the report, this program in the island nation will allow her verifying the extensive and sustained work by Cuba regarding solidarity and international cooperation, as well as its contribution to the promotion and protection of collective human rights in the world.

Virginia Dandan has extensive experience in teaching Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines, her original country, and was member and president of the UN Committee of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, an area in which she is an internationally acknowledged expert, the report read.
