Havana, Cuba.-The US citizens, Andy Cochrane, Wyatt Roscoe, Wesley Preston and Christopher Rodel began to kayak from this capital to Key West, Florida, and sent a message of friendship to the world.

Minutes before beginning this feat from the International Hemingway Yacht Club, the four young people told Prensa Latina that it is not only a good opportunity to be acquainted with Havana, but also to cross the Straits of Florida and to bring closer and strengthen relations between Nautical communities of both nations.

The Commodore of the Hemingway Club, Jose Miguel Diaz Escrich, also stated that his institution supports any attempt of record or event that help to convey a love friendship message between both nations, and also between those people who love the sea and nautical sports.

The plan of the trip includes kayaking – five meters long, supplied with water and food – for 30 to 40 hours, accompanied by a catamaran guide boat, until putting into to port at the Marina Florida Club, Key West .

According to Escrich, the US ‘athletes’ will be facing up the strong winds and ocean currents that originates in the Gulf of Mexico.

On a similar trip, on June 8, the US people Cynthia Aguilar, Aimee Spector and Karen Figueroa also paddle boarded from Havana to Key West.
