Cienfuegos, Cuba.- Endowed with German MTU technology, the largest diesel power plant in Cuba is encouraged in the area around the bay of this central-southern city, published today”s newspaper,´ 5 de septiembre´, in its digital version .

The 40 engines, divided into five batteries, with which the plant will be able to generate 84 megawatts from that hydrocarbon of more density.

The engineer Alfredo Abrahantes, investor of the Electric Company in this province, explained that the plant in execution is subscribed to the national program planned until 2023, which aims to install 200 megawatts of the so-called ´distributed generation´ in the western provinces Pinar del Río and Matanzas, and the power stations of Cienfuegos and Villa Clara.

The location of the diesel plant in the vicinity of the Camilo Cienfuegos oil refinery, the largest in the country with the capacity to process 65,000 barrels per day, will reduce expenses for the transportation of fuel.

Abrahantes highlighted the benefits of German technology, whose efficiency has international recognition, which will reduce the environmental impact of investment, through its systems of silencers and gas evacuation, which is placed at 12 meters high.

Although the delivery of the work is scheduled for November next year, in the second half of January they will carry out the tests of the first two batteries and in February they will add to the productive trial the remaining three, the investor pinpointed.
