Electo Silva, Dean of Choral Music in Cuba.

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba. – A floral offering on behalf of the President of the Councils of State and of Ministers Raul Castro Ruz, was deposited during the funeral honors of the outstanding musician Elect Silva Gainza, who died this Monday at 88 years old.

In the ceremony in the Hall of the City, the people of Santiago de Cuba paid tribute to the Dean of Choral music in Cuba, with his relatives, disciples and friends, as well as artists and intellectuals of the territory.

The interpretation of the song Juramento (Oath) by the choirs of Santiago de Cuba, marked the farewell to the founder and director Orfeon Santiago for more than forty years. Electo Silva received the National Music Award in 2002.

The body of the outstanding Cuban musician will be cremated and his ashes will be placed tomorrow in Santa Iphigenia Patrimonial Cemetery, of Santiago de Cuba.
