A great friend of Cuba.

MEXICO CITY, Mexico.- The outstanding intellectual of Spanish origin Federico Alvarez Arregui, received the Haydee Santamaria Medal, granted by the Council of State of Cuba, in a simple and emotive ceremony at the Embassy of the island in Mexico.

Alvarez Arregui expressed his gratitude for receiving a distinction bearing the name of Haydee Santamaria, whom he met at Casa de las Americas and was the first director of the renowned institution.

In addition, the Doctor in Philosophy evoked his experiences as editor of the Cuban Institute of Book, in the classrooms of the University of Havana, and next intellectuals as Alfredo Guevara.

For his part, Cuban ambassador in Mexico Pedro Nunez Mosquera remarked Cubans fell honored of conferring the medal to a revolutionary, anti-fascist fighter, and an endearing friend of the Cuban Revolution.
