UNITED NATIONS, USA. – The United Nations Ocean Conference ended this Friday with a Called for Action political declaration, a commitment by the international community with the protection and sustainable management of seas.

The document negotiated prior to the one-week forum, includes more than twenty concrete measures to prevent and confront the main problems threatening the future of oceans.

The political declaration also reflects support for the fulfilment of Objective 14 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, related to the preservation of oceans and the recognition by the Governments to their importance for humanity.

The United Nations Ocean Conference also resulted in more than a thousand voluntary commitments from Governments, and the United Nations system with the protection and sustainable management of seas.
