fidel tributo mexicoMexico City, Mexico.-Political and social figures, artists and friends of the Cuban revolution paid tribute to Fidel Castro in Acapulco, at the Mexican state of Guerrero.

Dozens of people recalled at the sea drive in Acapulco, in front of the Zopcalo, main square in that port and tourist city, to the Cuban revolutionary man, with flowers, songs and messages in his memory and to his legacy.

Rogelio Ortega, former Governor of the state and former Mayor Alberto Lopez, among other figures in the state and this municipality threw roses and carnations to the sea to pay tribute to Fidel.

Nicomedes Fuentes, former member of the Commission of the Truth in Guerrero and human rights activist, said ‘we have to be very grateful to Cuba and its historic leader for reasons, such as the training of doctors for Mexico and other countries in the world.

Former mayor of Veracruz Alberto Lopez asserted Fidel Castro belongs to the world and not only to Cubans, because he a figure that has trancended the internatioinal boundaries.

During the ceremony, they mentioned the names of the Granma expedition members, who departed from Veracruz to Cuba on November 25, 1956, with Fidel Castro and 81 other members of the expedition to free the island from Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship.

The vent toook place in the surrounding areas of Plaza Manzanillo square.
