Havana, Cuba.-Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Alfonso Dastis, will meet with local authorities today at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of his visit to the Caribbean nation.

Prior to the official talks, Dastis will lay a wreath to Cuban National Hero, Jose Marti, at the capital’s Revolution Square.

Later, the Spanish diplomat will attend the awarding ceremony to Havana City Historian, Eusebio Leal, in which Leal will receive the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic, conferred in May by King Felipe VI at the proposal of Dastis.

Cuban diplomat, Bruno Rodriguez, paid an official visit to the European country in April during which he met with King Felipe VI, the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, and Dastis. On that occasion, Rodriguez invited both to visit the island.

Local media repoted that the meeting with the Spanish monarch focused on the historic cultural and family ties that unite both countries and other issues of common interest.
