Cuba-CanadaSantiago de Cuba, Cuba.-The 9th International Seminar on Canadian Studies, which will be held from April 10th to 11th, will represent a new approach to Canada, the President of Canadian Study Department (Cecan) of the University of Oriente, María Bárbara Couso stated.

Speaking to Prensa Latina, María Bárbara pointed out that this event will be attended by Cuban students and teachers from the University of Alberta, as well as prestigious Canadian academicians who will be giving important master lectures on Canada´s history, culture and present affairs.

In addition, she added that some Canadian embassy´s representatives and other personalities will be also present, all motivated by the 72 years of fruitful relations between both nations.

English Language Students of the Faculty of Humanities were the ones who not only helped the most on the creation of Cecan, but also interested in the contact with Canadian tourists and visitors during their work practices, she said.

She also acknowledged the contribution made by several Canadian universities, whose professors taught the first courses, and provided the inclussion of Cuba as a member of the International Council on Canadian Studies.
