Havana, Cuba.-Cuban and foreign lawyers continue in this capital today the sessions of the International Congress on Law, Abogacia 2016, started yesterday under the auspices of the National Organization of Collective Law Offices (ONBC).

According to the program, keynote speeches on issues related to administrative management, mediation in conflicts, globalization of law and new technologies, will be under discussion today.

The work in commissions aimed for ethics; Civil and Family Law; the exercise of criminal defense; economic, commercial and financial disputes; and agricultural disputes, are also on the list.

According to ONBC president, Ariel Mantecon, about 800 delegates between Cubans and foreigners are attending this event. The objective is to exchange experiences and enhance their academic and professional qualifications.

Mantecon stated that this congress, the fifth since 2012, also aims to generate debates about the role of law in updating the economic model of the island.

As part of the preparation for the event, previous courses and discussion sessions on issues such as Commercial and Labor Law were carried out.

Collateral activities such as visiting a prison and assistance to a trial, are expected for today’s agenda.

The congress will conclude tomorrow.
