sinfonica-boliviaHavana, Cuba.-The National Symphony Orchestra will perform here for the first time a piece written by maestro, director and professor Roberto Valera, on occasion of the 90th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.

The piece called “Lema y poemas a Fidel” includes poems dedicated to Fidel by Cuban poets Carilda Oliver, Jesus Orta Ruiz (El Indio Nabori), Mirta Aguirre and Nicolas Guillen.

The Covarrubias hall, at the Teatro Nacional de Cuba, will host the concert that will also include “Overture 1812” by Russian composer Piotr Ilich Tschaikovski and “Suite Infantil” by Cuban composer Wilma Alba, performed by Banda Nacional de Conciertos and Cantorias Infantiles.

With this concert the National Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the birthday of Fidel Castro, who will turn into 90th on coming August 13th.

With the same purpose and directed by Maylan Avila, Cantoria Solfa will perform at the Abelardo Estorino hall, while Cantoria La Rosa Blanca, directed by Clara Cabrera, will perform at the Sociedad Cultural Jose Marti.

On occasion of the date, Cuban soprano Barbara Llanes will perform today at the Biblioteca Nacional Jose Marti, while the orchestra Solistas de La Habana will pay tribute to Fidel Castro at the Centro Hispano-Americano de Cultura.
