Havana, Cuba.-The presidents of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba (CCC) and the Chinese Council for the Promotion of Foreign Trade, Orlando Hernandez and Jiang Zengwei, respectively, signed today a plan of action aimed at promoting trade between their countries.

The document that includes the activities which will guide the joint effort of both organizations in that area in 2016-2017, was signed at the end of the 12th session of the bilateral business Committee,

held at the Hotel Nacional in the context of the visit to Cuba of Chinese Prime Minister, Li Keqiang.

When resuming the forum, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment (Mincex), Rodrigo Malmierca, highlighted that the updating of Cuba´s economic model, creates better conditions to carry out business between Chinese and Cuban enterprises in different sectors.

He added that both governments agreed on a bilateral agenda for the middle and long terms, which includes cooperation in infrastructure, communications and tourism and also in other important sectors with many business opportunities, as health services and biotechnology.

The head of Mincex exulted the importance that the will of cooperation between authorities of both countries is complemented by the work of enterprises.

Thus the importance of the plan of action and the activities that a delegation of Mincex will carry out in Beijing at the end of November, said Malmierca.

The group of businessmen participating in the forum was made up by representatives of 36 enterprises of the computer, finances, machinery, real estate and other sectors, and their Cuban partners.

Previously, Zengwei said the bilateral trade reaches two billion dollars and said Cuba is China´s first trading partner in the Caribbean.

The importance of increasing the trade and investment potential and reinforcing the support to Cuba in the financing of works of infrastructure, roads and highway, airports and ports construction, creating job sources in benefit of the population.

China is also Cuba´s first trading partner in goods and services and first partner in the region of Asia-Pacific, indicated the president of the CCC, Orlando Hernandez, who invited businesspeople attending the forum to participate in the 34th edition of the International Trade Fair in Havana, from October 31 to November 4.
