Havana, Cuba.-With the presentation of the Brazilian band Damas de Ferro, opened today its doors in this capital the fairground Cubadisco 2017, which will host until May 21 a varied cultural program.

Cuba Pavilion will host concerts, exhibitions, presentations of phonograms and conferences, as part of the twenty-first edition of the country’s biggest discography event.

Speaking to Prensa Latina, Jorge Gómez, a member of the organizing committee, pointed out the importance of the event for the promotion and recognition of the musical creation in this country and stated that the committee has planned a luxury prgramme.

There will be three concerts a day, in Cuba Pavilion and in other spaces, of troubadours, nominated groups and winners of the Cubadisco Prize, dancing music, among other activities, he said.

The fair pretends to be the launching stage our creators need. Cuban music must reach the big markets and all our efforts are aimed at drawing attention to the wonderful music made in our country, he added.

Gómez recalled that this edition is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sindo Garay and 45 years of the founding of the New Trova movement, and urged to continue the actions to improve the spaces of diffusion of national art.
