Havana, Cuba.- The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Raul Castro Ruz, has congratulated today the Jose Marti Studies Center (CEM), which is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its foundation this year, Granma newspaper reported.

On occasion of that anniversary and ‘in the context of the Jose Marti Conference and the Cuban Culture, I convey my congratulations to you and all those who have put their efforts from this institution during the last four decades in the study and dissemination of the work of the Cuban National Hero, ‘Raul wrote in the letter read during the activity held in that center.

First Deputy Culture Minister, Maria Elena Salgado, read the letter in which the Cuban president said: ‘the Jose Marti Studies Center has contributed to extend among us a fuller and deeper understanding of the legacy of Jose Marti’, the daily’s report says.

Granma states that during that meeting, held on the occasion of the Cuban Culture Day, CEM director, Ana Sanchez Collazo, said that receiving this message is a commitment to continue spreading Marti’s thoughts from academia and to the population.

The daily also recalls that the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of CEM, sent a congratulatory message to the organization, in which he stressed: ‘… the Jose Marti Studies Center has a formidable trench of ideas’, words that have maintained validity up to today.
