fidel2Havana, Cuba.-The company directed by star dancer Carlos Acosta said today that next performances will be dedicated to Cuban Revolution”s historic leader Fidel Castro, to thank him for his constant support for Cuban arts.

Acosta Danza, name of the company, will perform on December 7th at the hall Garcia Lorca of the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso.

The program includes choreographies such as ‘Hokiri’, by French Mickael Marso Riviere, which tackles life beyond death and the eternal rebirth of life cycle.

The company will also perform ‘Babbel 2.0’, by Catalan Maria Rovira, a work on the chaos of the world nowadays, in which cultures are merged and people do not communicate.

‘Derrumbe’, by Cuban choreographer Miguel Altunaga, will also be performed, telling the story about the end of a romantic relationship.

A significant moment of the program will be the performance ‘Tocororo Suite’, version of the well-known Tocororo, a Cuban fable by Carlos Acosta premiered in the same theater in 2003.

‘Tocororo Suite’ was attended by Fidel, who at the end of the performance met Acosta and the rest of the cast for few unforgettable minutes for all the artists, said a company statement.

After hearing about the death of historical leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, on November 25th, Acosta described him as the greatest benefactor of the arts in the world and lamented the loss of Fidel, who did so much for the Cuban culture.

The company, which Acosta founded this year in Cuba, will perform at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso, on December 7th-11th.
