Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, attended the official welcome ceremony on Saturday for members of the “Nuestra América” ??solidarity convoy, which is currently visiting the country.
The gathering, taking place at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), was attended by members of the Political Bureau: Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power; Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuban Prime Minister; and Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the PCC Central Committee.
Also present were other members of the Political Bureau, as well as representatives from the PCC, the State, the Government, various mass, social, and student organizations, and representatives from the ministries.
This convoy comprises more than 600 members from 33 countries, representing approximately 140 political, social, religious, cultural, and trade union organizations, as well as solidarity collectives that have joined forces to support the Cuban people — in direct defiance of the energy blockade imposed by the U.S. government.
The event serves as a platform to denounce the hostile policy that the United States government has historically maintained against Cuba, while simultaneously serving as a demonstration of the international support enjoyed by the Caribbean nation.
