senador usaWashington, United States.-The Engage Cuba coalition celebrated that US Senator Jerry Moran introduced a bill in Congress to effectively lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington against Cuba.

The proposal, presented by Kansas Republican Lawmaker at the end of last month and dubbed as the Trade Act with Cuba, would allow the US private sector to freely trade with Cuba.

Moran Project would reverse those regulations damaging both Kansas economy and Cuban people, Engage Cuba, President James Williams stated.

As said by Williams, as the main US exporter of agricultural goods and the country’s largest wheat producer, the exchange with Cuba would enable Kansas agribusiness to significantly boost sales to its neighboring market.

According to a statement, Engage Cuba recalled that even though Barack Obama administration (2009-2017) issued a set of regulatory changes to ease travel and trade restrictions, the blockade still remains due to a series of regulations.

After 55 years of failure, it’s time for change. We admire Senator Moran for his leadership to ensure that Kansas businesses and farmers can compete in emerging Cuban markets, Williams said.
