Havana, cUBA.-Cuba will be running an extensive activity program as part of World AIDS Day on December 1st, which is focused on prevention, the organizers announced today.

Under the motto: ‘Let us Raise our Hands for Prevention of HIV’, World AIDS Day in Cuba will offer a spectrum of activities from educational campaigns, detection test practice and the screening of audiovisual works on the subject.

Organized by the National Program for Prevention and Control of the Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV-AIDS of the Cuban Public Health Ministry, the agenda includes discussions on facing the disease, as well as the marketing of condoms at community drug stores and the recognition of the 13,000 promoters – a team of volunteers who are working on the prevention and control of the epidemic, Jacqueline Sanchez, director of the National Center for HIV-AIDS Prevention, explained in a media conference.

According to official data, Cuba has recorded stability in the numbers of HIV-AIDS victims.
