Havana, Cuba.- Cuba and Ecuador ratified their commitment to a legal, orderly and safe migration flow at the 9th round of bilateral talks on that issue, which concluded in this capital on Tuesday.

According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the two-day meeting took place in a frank, cordial and mutually respectful atmosphere.

Headed by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez and the Ecuadorean deputy minister for Human Mobility, Santiago Chavez, the two delegations analyzed the behavior of the migration flow, including related crimes.

The two countries also committed to continuing negotiations on the Memorandum on Migration Matters, as well as the appropriate legal framework to achieve legal, safe and orderly migration between the two nations, and to fighting human trafficking and the illegal traffic with migrants.

Likewise, they reaffirmed the will to continue to work together to strengthen cooperation on migration and consular matters, and to confront irregular migration in a more effective way.

Participants also highlighted the importance of these kinds of meetings to continue to strengthen bilateral relations.
