HAVANA, Cuba.- The First Vice-President Salvador Valdes Mesa paid posthumous homage to the former head of State of Vietnam, Le Duc Anh, who died last April in Hanoi at 99.

On behalf of the Cuban people, the Party and the Government, we express our heartfelt condolences for the demise of Comrade Le Duc Anh, who will always be remembered as a dear friend, Valdes Mesa in wrote the book of condolences opened in the Vietnamese Embassy at  Havana.

The Cuban First Vice-president said that Cuba has felt the loss of the former Vietnamese President as its own, because friendship and bilateral relations are special.

Veteran of several wars for the liberation of Vietnam, Le Duc Anh was president of that nation between 1992 and 97 and maintained a close friendship with Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz
