HAVANA, Cuba.- The 34th session of the Multilateral Convention on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between Customs Directorates of Latin America, Spain and Portugal, inaugurated today to strengthen coordination between those bodies at the regional level.
Pedro Miguel Perez, head of the General Customs of the Republic of Cuba, said in the opening the meeting will also focus on issues related to the goals of the World Customs Organization.
Before representatives from 19 delegations, the official remarked the need to continue promoting cooperation and unity of action, in addition to improving customs management in the area.
Ricardo Trevino, general director of the Customs Office of Mexico, invited to take advantage of this space to draw up actions promoting modernization, officials´ technical training, and the favoring of schemes for management of risks.
