Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.-A tremor of 5.8 magnitude shook today morning several areas of this city and other eastern provinces, just one year after the beginning of an anomalous seismic series that kept the population in suspense.

The National Seismological Service Station Network has informed that reports of perceptibility cover the five eastern Cuban provinces. The earthquake occurred at 04:08 local time, at coordinates 19.6 north latitude and 76,6 west longitude, and 10 kilometers deep.

The second perceptible earthquake of the year was located at 85 kilometers southwest of Chivirico, in the coastal and mountainous municipality of Guama, which extends along with the Caribbean Sea and the Sierra Maestra.

There are some circumstances that no one gets accustomed to unless they are relatively frequent in everyday life and earthquakes are one of them, especially if they occur in the middle of the night.

Tuesday’s earthquake has not caused any human or material damage so far, and seismologists keep a close watch in the bowels of the earth, which sent the first seism of this year on the last 4 day, with a three magnitude on the Richter scale.
