vietnam-cubaHanoi, Vietnam.-The Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed today that the visit of the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, Leopoldo Cintra Frías will contribute to the promotion of the excellent bilateral relations.

When welcoming the also General of the Army Corps, Phu Trong referred to the ties of brotherhood, traditional friendship, integral cooperation and solidarity between the two communist parties, states, peoples and especially the armed forces of both nations, according to official versions of the talks.

In the dialogue with Cintra Frias the Vietnamese leader thanked Cuba for its support and expressed the hope that the two armies would constantly meet the expectations of these organizations and peoples.

Meanwhile, Cintra Frías pointed out that Vietnam’s progress in its renewal process (Doi Moi) is a stimulus and experience for Cuba in updating its model of socio-economic development.

He also informed his interlocutor about the results of the working meetings with Vietnamese leaders and representatives of the Ministry of Defense and reaffirmed his determination to promote and strengthen the excellent ties between the two parties, states and peoples.

The Cuban minister also had talks with President Tran Dai Quang, who reaffirmed his willingness to be with Cuba in any situation. The president thanked Cuba for its support in both Vietnam’s struggle for independence in the past and in the national safeguard in the present.
