South Sudan.

The United Nations called today to renew the international efforts to achieve peace in South Sudan, where the internal conflict raised in December 2013 accumulates thousands of deaths and three million displaced people.

Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, reiterated the organization’s concern for the crisis in the world’s youngest country.

Guterres took advantage of his stay in London to discuss the conflict with the head of the Intergovernmental Authority for the Development of East Africa and the Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.

The UN Secretary-General addressed the need of strengthening actions aimed at ending the suffering of the population in South Sudan, where, despite peace agreements and foreign efforts, clashes continue.
