The European Parliament will discuss the future of the Paris agreement against climate change in mid-June, following the announcement of the United State’s withdrawal.

According to Antonio Tajani, president of the community institution, it is necessary a debate in the Parliament expressing the firm will to continue fighting global warming and to promote competitiveness.

Referring to US President Donald Trump’s decision to abandon the international convention signed in 2015, the MEP said the agreements should be respected and honored.

Paris agreement, signed by nearly two hundred nations, aims to limit global warming by reducing carbon dioxide and other emissions caused by burning fossil fuels.
