Havana, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) US singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright will perform a concert on September 24 at Havana”s Gran Teatro Alicia Alonso (Gthaa), where he will share the stage with local artists, organizers confirmed here today.

During the recital, scheduled for 17:00 local time, the musician will be accompanied the Symphonic Orchestra of the Gthaa, conducted by the maestro Giovanni Duarte, and will have as a special guest the singer-songwriter Carlos Varela.

The New Yorker, who already visited the island last year and performed at Cuban Art Factory, is considered one of the most outstanding vocalists of his generation.

In his official website, the artist confessed to admire the Cuban culture and said that in the concert he will play, along with some of the best musicians of the Caribbean nation part of his repertoire, which includes pop, art-rock, classical music and the opera.

Praised by critics and with thousands of fans around the world, Wainwright has built a solid solo career that began more than two decades ago.

Born in New York and raised in Montreal, the musician has released several albums including Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall, as well as The Stars, Rufus Wainwrgiht and Release The Stars.
