HAVANA, Cuba. – The Covarrubias Hall of the National Theatre will be next Sunday at eleven a.m. the first scale of the Minnesota Youth Symphony Orchestra, which will be presented in Camaguey next June 28 and in Santiago de Cuba next Thursday 29.
Maestro Manny Laureano will conduct the American group. The memorable tour of the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra in 2015 motivated the musician to return with the youth group and extend the exchange to other provinces.
The program will include Gershwin´s Concerto for Piano and orchestra, performed by renowned Cuban pianist Ignacio “Nachito” Herrera, as well as Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony and a work by composer Shelley Hanson.
The Minnesota Youth Symphony is dedicated to orchestral training at the conservatory level and it is considered one of the best of its kind in the United States.
