Havana, Cuba.- A new edition of the book ”Silvio, que levante la mano la guitarra”, by Cuban authors Luis Rogelio Nogueras and Víctor Casaus, will be launched today at the 27th edition of the Havana International Book Fair.

The volume, to be launched today afternoon at Nicolás Guillén hall in e San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress, includes a selection of essays, lyrics and tribute memories to singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez, representative figure of the Cuban Nueva Trova Movement.

According to specialists, the authors got this book, published for the first time in 1994, along with the troubadour from a friendship that united them in common commitments for more than 15 years to form a very complete image of the troubadour.

The publication also offers a compilation of some of Silvio’s songs, beyond the happiness of showing, the continuity and coherence of the songs, subjects, propositions, visions and obsessions of its author.

Cuban writer Julio Miguel Llanes will also launch a text today at the Book Fair where he mixes biography, testimony and fiction about legendary dancer Alicia Alonso.

‘Alicia, el vuelo de la mariposa’ is an unprecedented work whose chapters are named as many of the ballets that marked the career of one of the leading figures of the Cuban and universal dance.

The book includes an annex with more than 60 library photographs and deals with passages from Alonso’s childhood to certain current experiences.

The 27th Havana International Book Fair brings together the latest in Cuban and other countries literature in this capital from February 1 to 11.

This largest Cuban literary event is dedicated this year to Havana Historian, Eusebio Leal, and China as a guest of honor.
