CAPE TOWN, South Africa. – The President of the African National Congress and Vice president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, will inaugurate in Cape Town a great parade, as part of the celebration program for the centenary of Nelson Mandela’s birth.

The event will take place next Sunday in this city of the province of Western Cape, coinciding with the 28th anniversary of the exit from prison of the legendary anti-Apartheid fighter.

A statement by the African National Congress highlights the importance of February 11th to honor Mandela and points out that the parade will recall the concentration of that day of 1990 in which the South Africans listened to him for the first time in almost 30 years.

Last December the South African authorities announced this year is to honor Mandela for the 100 years of his birth and they envisage activities throughout the nation.
