Irma Martinez Castrillon and Nick Rischbieth signed the important document.

HAVANA, Cuba. – Irma Martinez Castrillon, Minister President of the Central Bank of Cuba (BCC), and Nick Rischbieth, executive president of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE), signed the accession instrument of Cuba to this regional and multilateral institution.

According to Martinez Castrillon, this agreement will further strengthen the island’s already extensive relations with the Central American countries, and it will encourage BCIE´s support to social economic development and integration projects.

We believe that, from this moment on, a strong work is being carried out to implement all the objectives both sides have, Martinez Castrillon stressed.

On the other hand, Nick Rischbieth highlighted the historical ties and the Cuba´s integration vision with the Central American nations.

He also explained that this heading is the result of an exploratory visit to Cuba by directors of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration in May 2016, in which they learned about the various development projects carried out in the country.

Rischbieth added that last April, the extraordinary assembly of BCIE unanimously supported Cuba´s incorporation, and today we are leaving a record of this, with a high degree of commitment on both sides.

We have a genuine interest in supporting Cuba’s development and economic growth, Rischbieth concluded.
